Right in the middle of the farmland
The farming operations originate from Gisselfeld Manor Farm, which is centrally located – right by the castle and in the middle of the farmland. The farming is carried out conventionally, meaning no organic farming, and is conducted in harmony with the estate's other activities, such as house rentals, fishing, hunting, tourism, and events.

High quality products
Almost all soil types are found on Gisselfeld's land – from sandy, stony soil to very stiff, sticky clay. The good and slightly flatter soil lies north of Gisselfeld towards Haslev, while the poorer, more hilly land lies south of the Castle towards the village of Vester Egede.
Gisselfeld currently has 3 categories of succession:
- Sugar beet – spring barley/cannery peas – wheat
- Oilseed rape – wheat – wheat – spring cereals
- Rugs – rugs – rugs – rugs
Given the soil conditions and the relatively large proportion of light soil, Gisselfeld today has one of the country's largest productions of rye for bread grain. Gisselfeld Agriculture mulches the majority of the straw to improve soil conditions in conjunction with catch crops.
The overall aim of crop rotation production is to cultivate high-quality products using as few auxiliary substances (chemicals, fertilisers) as possible. Buffer zones have been established along Gisselfeld's watercourses, lakes, and other sensitive areas, in order to protect the environment as effectively as possible.
