A trip to paradise

Experience paradise amidst a wealth of rare and exotic trees and plants. The Paradise Garden or Hesede Planteskole is an arboretum in Hesede Forest between Haslev and Næstved.

The history of Paradishaven goes back 200 years, to when Hesede Nursery was established by Gisselfeld Monastery in 1813. The nursery closed in 1925, but the exotic plants that had been planted continued to grow and today form an absolutely unique collection of rare evergreen and deciduous trees. Later, Paradishaven became a forest botanical garden, which over time has attracted great interest from both professionals and ordinary forest visitors.

In 2009, the Paradise Garden underwent a major renovation, and a small information centre has been set up in a former stable.
