For the hunter

For the passionate hunter

”Being a hunter on the Gisselfeld estate is about much more than the hunt itself. Nature and wildlife management are an important part of the overall experience, and as a hunter, there are plenty of challenges. The hilly terrain, the opportunity to shoot fallow deer under controlled conditions, where only animals from the annual quota assigned by Gisselfeld may be shot, make it an attractive area for the passionate hunter.

I am a hunting tenant of three consortia under Gisselfeld Monastery, and it functions in perfect cooperation with the Monastery. Renting hunting rights in Gisselfeld's areas is attractive to hunters, as practically all species of game occur there.”

Wonderful hunting experiences in varied nature

Gisselfeld Kloster manages 3880 hectares of land, ideally divided between forest, agricultural land, meadows, lakes, and marshland, including a core area around the castle extending to over 3000 hectares. Great importance is placed on optimising conditions for wildlife and nature, with new small biotopes being planted continuously and hedgerows established, just as existing ones are cared for with great dedication.

Gisselfeld's lands are home to many game animals, and the red and fallow deer populations, in particular, are among the estate's prides. The red deer population currently stands at approximately 75-100 animals, originating from a release of 14 animals back in 2008. The fallow deer herd numbers 600-700 animals and has been managed through a strictly controlled culling policy since 1993. The roe deer population is strong and widespread, found across all areas of the estate – and the general small game population is continuously managed, ensuring there are always hunting opportunities during the season.

Gisselfeld Monastery's extensive and targeted work in relation to biotopes and wildlife management is instrumental in making hunts under Gisselfeld Monastery sought-after, and all hunting leases are conducted as area leases of larger or smaller areas on contract over longer periods.
