For the hunter

For the passionate hunter

”Being a hunter on the Gisselfeld estate is much more than the hunt itself. Nature and wildlife management are an important part of the overall experience, and as a hunter, there are plenty of challenges. The hilly terrain, the opportunity to shoot fallow deer under controlled conditions, where only animals from the quota allocated annually by Gisselfeld may be shot, make it an attractive area for the passionate hunter.

I am a hunting tenant of three consortia under Gisselfeld Monastery, and it works in perfect cooperation with the Monastery. Renting hunting rights on Gisselfeld's areas is attractive to hunters, as practically all game species are present.”

Wonderful hunting experiences in varied nature

Gisselfeld Kloster has 3880 hectares of land, ideally divided between forest, agricultural land, meadows, lakes, and marshland, including a core area around the castle spanning over 3000 hectares. Great importance is placed on ensuring optimal conditions for wildlife and nature, with continuous planting of new small biotopes and the establishment of living hedges, just as existing ones are maintained with great dedication.

Gisselfeld's lands are home to many huntable animals, and the red deer and fallow deer populations in particular are among the estate's prides. The red deer population currently numbers around 75-100 animals and originated from a release of 14 animals back in 2008. The fallow deer population is between 600-700 animals, and has been managed through a tightly controlled culling policy since 1993. The roe deer population is strong and widespread, found across all areas of the estate – and the general small game population is continuously managed, ensuring there are always hunting opportunities during the season.

Gisselfeld Kloster's extensive and targeted work in relation to biotopes and wildlife conservation contributes to its highly sought-after shoots, with all hunting letting conducted through the leasing of larger or smaller areas on contracts over longer periods.
