Perfect for the nature lover
”I'm a real nature nerd, and that's why I don't think I can find a more beautiful fishing area than the lakes at Gisselfeld Kloster. Several of us rent the fishing rights to one of Gisselfeld's many lakes, and here we get the opportunity to go back to basics for one or more days when we camp on the shore and throw our lines into the water. It's pure relaxation and a fabulous idyll. We have been fishing here for many years and consider it to be the most beautiful area for angling in Northern Europe.
”We can observe the marsh harrier hunting, hear the woodpecker's call, or wake up in the morning to the swan looking us straight in the eye because we're in its territory. At the same time, we have the mystery and history of Gisselfeld Monastery in the background – it's nothing short of fantastic."
A happy angler
Enriched by nature with ideal opportunities for the recreational angler.
Gisselfeld Monastery is blessed with scenery that makes it particularly attractive for fishing and simply enjoying the moment. The many lakes and streams offer optimal fishing opportunities in fantastically beautiful surroundings. Carp fishing was introduced to Gisselfeld as early as the 16th century, and a large number of the lakes were therefore artificially created. Over the last 15 years, all 23 carp ponds have been re-stocked with carp, and the lakes and streams are rich in fish species such as pike, zander, perch, tench, and brown trout…
On the majority of the areas, hunting, access, and fishing rights have been leased out, and in connection with this, houses and cabins have been refurbished for use by the many guests who enjoy the nature. Gisselfeld Kloster regularly has fishing waters available for rent, allowing you access to the truly unique fishing opportunities on site.
