A trip to paradise

Experience paradise amidst a wealth of rare and exotic trees and plants. Paradise Garden or Hesede Planteskole is an arboretum in Hesede Forest between Haslev and Næstved.

The history of the Paradise Garden dates back 200 years, to 1813, when Hesede Nursery was established by Gisselfeld Monastery. The nursery closed in 1925, but the exotic plants that had been planted continued to grow and today form a unique collection of rare evergreen and deciduous trees. Later, the Paradise Garden became a forest botanical garden, which over time has attracted great interest from both professionals and ordinary forest visitors.

In 2009, Paradishaven underwent a major renovation, and a small information centre has been established in a former stable.
